FCPA Professor has been described as “the Wall Street Journal concerning all things FCPA-related,” and “the most authoritative source for those seeking to understand and apply the FCPA.”
Set forth below are the topics discussed this week on FCPA Professor.
As highlighted here, advertising group WPP resolved a $19.2 million SEC FCPA enforcement action focused on subsidiary conduct in India, China, Brazil and Peru. This post highlights additional issues to consider from the enforcement action. An interesting backstory to the WPP enforcement action is that in 2000 WPP merged with Young & Rubicam Inc. (Y&R) and previously Y&R (along with certain executives) were charged with FCPA violations and the enforcement action was, and remains, one of the most interesting FCPA enforcement actions of all time. In connection with Amazon’s scrutiny in India, there has been an instance of potential offensive use of the FCPA (see here).
This post rounds up other FCPA and related developments.
